Flow Measurement

Meters that derive flow rate from the pressure drop across a calibrated restriction such as an orifice plate, venturi, or flow nozzle. Widely used for natural gas measurement in standardized meter runs per AGA-3 and ISO 5167.

Meters that measure flow by timing acoustic pulses traveling with and against the stream (transit-time) or by Doppler shift. Available as inline spool-piece units for custody gas service and as non-intrusive clamp-on transducers, including EMAT designs that generate ultrasound directly in the pipe wall.

Meters that count vortices shed from a bluff body placed in the flow, where shedding frequency is proportional to velocity. Suited to steam, gas, and clean liquid service over a wide temperature range with no moving parts.

Meters that trap and release fixed volumes of fluid in rotating chambers, counting the cycles to total flow. Used for viscous liquids and low-flow custody applications where high accuracy is required.

Instruments that measure oil, gas, and water fractions and rates in an unseparated stream without test separation. Applied to well testing and allocation where full-bore three-phase metering reduces surface equipment.

Meters in which a float rises in a tapered tube to a height proportional to flow rate. Used for local visual indication of low-rate gas and liquid streams such as chemical injection and purge lines.

Lease Automatic Custody Transfer units that automatically sample, measure, and divert crude oil at the point of sale. Integrate a primary meter, prover connection, sampler, and flow computer to document fiscal quantity and quality.

Reference systems such as pipe provers and master meters used to verify and adjust the accuracy of field meters. Establish the meter factor that corrects indicated flow to a traceable standard.
