Hydraulically Actuated MPD Chokes
Chokes positioned by a hydraulic power unit, valued for high closing force and torque on larger trim sizes. Common in higher-pressure and high-flow MPD manifolds where actuation force is the limiting factor.
Electric MPD Chokes
Chokes driven by an electric servo or stepper actuator for fine, repeatable position control without a hydraulic power unit. Favored for fast, precise pressure modulation and simplified rig-up.
Single-Choke Manifolds
An MPD control manifold built around one active choke handling all annular returns. Lower cost and footprint, suited to operations where a single flow path and planned shutdowns are acceptable.
Dual / Redundant Choke Manifolds
Manifolds with two parallel chokes so flow can transfer between them for trim change-out or maintenance without stopping the operation. Used where continuous pressure control and reliability are required.
Automated MPD Choke Systems
Integrated packages pairing the choke and actuator with a controller and hydraulic model that automatically holds bottomhole pressure through connections and transients. The choke responds to model-driven setpoints rather than manual operator input.
Erosion-Resistant Trim Assemblies
The replaceable internal flow elements (cage, plug, seat) made from tungsten carbide or ceramics to withstand cuttings-laden, high-velocity return flow. Selected and sized to match expected flow rate, differential pressure, and abrasive content.
Choke Position / Pressure Sensors and Controllers
The instrumentation and control hardware that report choke position and upstream/downstream pressure and command actuator movement. They close the loop between the MPD pressure model and the physical valve.
