Solids Control
Product Families
Shale Shakers
Vibrating-screen machines that form the first stage of solids removal, screening coarse drilled cuttings off the mud at the flowline. Screen mesh, deck angle, and motion (linear, balanced elliptical) determine throughput and the cut point.
Hydrocyclones (Desanders and Desilters)
Conical separators that use centrifugal force from pressurized flow to remove sand- and silt-sized solids that pass through shaker screens. Desanders use larger-diameter cones for coarser cuts and desilters use smaller cones to remove finer particles.
Decanting Centrifuges
High-speed rotating-bowl units that separate fine, ultrafine, and colloidal solids from the mud and can recover barite weighting material from high-density fluids. Used for fine-solids control, barite recovery, and dewatering feed clarification.
Degassers and Mud-Gas Separators
Equipment that strips entrained formation gas from returning mud. Vacuum degassers remove fine gas bubbles to restore mud density, while a mud-gas separator (poor-boy degasser) handles larger gas volumes from a kick and vents gas safely to flare.
Cuttings Dryers and Dewatering Units
Vertical or horizontal cuttings dryers (centrifugal dryers) recover residual fluid from discharged cuttings to reduce waste volume and fluid loss. Dewatering systems use chemical flocculation and centrifugation to clarify water and concentrate fine solids.
Mud Agitators and Mud Guns
Tank-mounted mixers that keep solids and weighting agents in suspension and prevent settling in active and reserve mud pits. Mud guns provide additional jetting agitation across tank compartments.
Mud Coolers and Conditioning Equipment
Heat-exchange units that lower returning drilling-fluid temperature to protect downhole tools and stabilize fluid properties on high-temperature or high-rate wells. Part of broader fluid conditioning and processing on the surface system.
Magnetic Particle Separators
In-line magnetic separators that capture ferrous debris and swarf, such as bit and casing wear particles, from the circulating fluid to protect pumps and downhole equipment from abrasive metal contamination.
