Casing Heads

The bottom-most wellhead body that attaches to the surface casing by threaded, slip-on weld, or breech-lock connection and provides the first hanger bowl and seal area. It establishes the load path and pressure boundary for everything stacked above.

Flanged spools installed between the casing head and the tubing head to suspend an intermediate casing string and seal its annulus. They include a bottom packoff that energizes against the casing string passing through the lower flange.

The uppermost casing-spool family that suspends the production casing or tubing string and provides the mounting flange for the tubing hanger and Christmas tree. It seals the production annulus and carries side outlets for annular access.

Hangers that grip the casing with wedge-shaped slips and an energized seal assembly, allowing the string to be hung off at any point without a pre-machined landing shoulder. They are used where casing landing depth is not fixed in advance.

Hangers made up directly into the casing string and landed on a shoulder in the head bowl, transferring string weight through the mandrel body. They provide a robust, positively supported suspension for heavier strings.

Hanger configurations that allow the casing string to be rotated or cemented in place before being suspended, with the pin-down variant landing the casing connection itself into the bowl. They support cementing and string-orientation operations during installation.

Energizable seal units that pack off the annulus between a hung casing string and the head or spool bore, isolating the lower annulus from upper pressure. They are commonly secondary or test-isolation seals supplementing the primary hanger seal.

Flanged, studded, or threaded outlets on the casing head and spool bodies used to monitor and bleed annular pressure and to connect bleed-off or kill lines. They are typically fitted with isolation valves and test ports.
