Tree Valves

Gate valves positioned in the vertical bore directly above the tubing head that provide primary isolation of the wellbore from the rest of the tree. Trees commonly carry a lower (manual) and an upper (often hydraulically actuated) master valve for redundant barriers.

Valves on the horizontal flow outlets of the tree that direct produced or injected fluid into the flowline. The production wing valve is frequently actuated as part of the surface or subsea safety system, while a separate kill wing valve allows fluid injection.

The top valve on the vertical bore that, when open, gives wireline and coiled-tubing tools straight-line access into the well for intervention, and provides barrier isolation when closed.

Slab or expanding-gate, bonnet-type valves built to API 6A for surface (dry) trees, offering full-bore, metal-to-metal bidirectional sealing across pressure ratings up to 15,000 and 20,000 psi.

Tree valves qualified to API 17D for subsea service, typically hydraulically actuated with fail-safe-close springs and designed for remote operation, long-term immersion, and ROV override.

Non-return valves used on injection and kill lines of the tree to prevent backflow toward the injection source, including pipeline-type subsea check valves specified to API 6DSS.

Hydraulic or pneumatic actuators that drive master and wing valves open or closed, generally configured fail-safe (spring-return-to-close) so the valve isolates the well on loss of control pressure.

Adjustable or positive flow-restriction valves mounted on the tree downstream of the wing valve to regulate production rate and manage drawdown and erosion.
