Fluid End Components

The forged or machined body that holds the plunger bores, valve chambers, and cover ports of the wet end. It is the primary pressure-containing structure and is offered as a monoblock or modular design for a given pump model and pressure rating.

Cylindrical rods, often ceramic-coated or hardened steel, that reciprocate through the packing to displace fluid. They are sized to the pump bore and are a primary wear item replaced when scoring or coating loss compromises sealing.

Matched one-way valve-and-seat assemblies that control suction and discharge flow each stroke. Common abrasion-service designs include carburized full-open and three-web valves, with frac seats pressed into the housing bore.

Stacked rubber and fabric-reinforced sealing elements, frequently nitrile butadiene (NBR), that seal the reciprocating plunger against fluid bypass. Packing is consumable and replaced on a scheduled interval based on fluid abrasiveness.

Threaded retainers that compress and hold the plunger packing stack in the housing bore. They set packing preload and allow field service of the seal assembly without removing the fluid end block.

Removable covers, caps, and suction covers that close the valve chambers and provide access to valves, seats, and springs for inspection and replacement. They are pressure-rated to the fluid end and sealed with O-rings.

Static elastomeric seals used between covers, glands, seats, and the housing to prevent high-pressure leakage. Material and durometer are selected for the fracturing fluid chemistry and operating temperature.

Valve springs and associated retainers that return suction and discharge valves to the closed position between strokes. They control valve timing and are matched to the valve and seat geometry.
