Zipper/API Iron

Skid- or trailer-mounted high-pressure manifolds that split the main frac line into multiple monitored outlets, each isolated by a frac valve, so the spread can pump into one well while others are isolated. They are the backbone of continuous zipper fracturing on multi-well pads.

The flow-distribution spool mounted on top of each wellhead that gathers several treating-iron inlet lines into a single bore feeding the well. The branched, multi-inlet shape gives the goathead its name and balances slurry flow into the wellbore.

Elevated crossover structures and valve assemblies that carry treating iron over pad infrastructure and tie the zipper manifold to individual wellheads. They include the frac valves and isolation gates that switch flow between wells.

Straight high-pressure pup joints, integral fittings, and lateral spools that make up the bulk of the surface treating line. Sold in standard lengths and bore sizes with hammer-union or flanged ends for field assembly.

Articulating high-pressure unions with sealed ball races that allow treating iron to flex and absorb misalignment and pump-induced movement. They are classified by the number and orientation of rotation planes (style 10, 30, 50, etc.).

Flow-splitting and combining fittings that branch or merge treating lines on the manifold and at the goathead. They are rated to the same working pressure as the straight iron they connect.

Quick-make threaded couplings tightened with a hammer that join sections of treating iron without bolting. Figure-number ratings (Fig 1502, 2002, 2202) designate working pressure and are color- and thread-coded to prevent mismatched assembly.

Manually or hydraulically actuated isolation valves used on manifold outlets and wellheads to direct slurry to the active well and seal off offline wells. Their full-bore design minimizes erosion and turbulence in abrasive service.
