Tubular Handling Equipment

Hydraulic or pneumatic tongs that grip and rotate tubulars to make up or break out threaded connections at a measured torque. An iron roughneck combines spinning and torque functions into a single floor-mounted unit that replaces manual tongs and spinning chains at the well center.

Top-drive-mounted tools that grip, rotate, fill, circulate, and lower casing in a single operation, eliminating separate elevators, slips, and fill-up tools. Internal- or external-gripping designs (including dual-weight CRTs/DWCRT) handle a range of casing weights and sizes.

Hand-operated tongs used with rig tension lines and a torque gauge to make up or break out connections, typically on lighter or lower-volume operations. They include lead and backup tongs that hold the lower joint while the upper joint is rotated.

Wedge-action gripping devices that suspend a tubular string in the rotary table or in a floor-mounted spider while the next joint is added or removed. Flush-mounted slips sit level with the rig floor to keep the work area clear and reduce trip hazards.

Hinged clamps (elevators) that grip a tubular below its coupling or tool joint and connect to the hook via bails or links so the hoisting system can lift and lower the string. Side-door and center-latch elevators are matched to pipe size and load rating.

Powered machines that transfer tubulars horizontally between the pipe deck and the drill floor and present them to well center. A power catwalk lifts and skids individual joints up the V-door, reducing manual handling and crane picks.

Stationary, hydraulically powered makeup/breakout machines used in the shop or yard to assemble or disassemble threaded connections on drill collars, tool joints, and downhole tools at high torque. They provide controlled torque and turns for connections too large for rig tongs.

Thick-walled tubulars that add weight and stiffness to the bottom-hole assembly to provide weight on bit and reduce buckling. HWDP serves as a transition section between drill collars and standard drill pipe and is handled with matching elevators, slips, and lift subs.
