Liner Hanger Running Services

Liner hangers set by applying internal tubing pressure against a piston to drive the slips outward and anchor the liner to the host casing. They are the common choice for deviated and horizontal wells where pickup-and-rotate manipulation is impractical.

Liner hangers set by pipe manipulation — typically rotation or pickup-and-slack-off — to expand the slips against the host casing. They are used where running conditions favor mechanical setting and where hydraulic actuation is not desired.

Hangers that use a swage or hydraulic process to plastically expand a metal body against the host casing, creating a metal-to-metal anchor and seal. The solid-expanded contact provides high hanging and pressure capacity with a large flow-by area and no moving slips.

Hanger systems with a bearing assembly that allows the liner to be rotated and reciprocated after the hanger is set, improving mud removal and cement placement. They are specified for long, cemented liners in challenging hole geometry.

Packers run at the top of the liner to seal the liner-lap annulus between the liner top and the host casing after the hanger is set and cementing is complete. They provide pressure isolation of the cemented liner and a tested seal at the liner top.

The retrievable tools — including the setting tool, running tool, and associated subs — that connect the liner to the workstring, set the hanger and packer, and release from the liner. They control the running, setting, and release sequence during the deployment service.

Receptacles and seal assemblies at the liner top that allow a tie-back string to be run later and stung into the liner, extending casing to surface or to an intermediate point. They are used when the cased interval must be reinforced or pressure-isolated after the liner is set.
