Spherical Annular BOPs
Annular preventers using a spherical packing element that is forced upward and inward by a conical piston, providing efficient sealing with relatively low closing pressure. Commonly associated with Hydril GK and GX designs.
Tapered-Wedge Annular BOPs
Annular preventers in which a wedge-faced piston drives the packing radially inward, typified by Shaffer spherical/wedge-type units. Valued for predictable element wear and field-proven stripping performance.
Slim-Hole / Small-Bore Annular BOPs
Reduced-bore annular preventers (commonly 7-1/16 in and smaller) used on workover, snubbing, and slim-hole drilling rigs where stack height and weight are constrained.
