ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India Private Limited (AM/NS India) is the leading integrated flat carbon steel producer in India, jointly owned by ArcelorMittal and Nippon Steel Corporation. The company was formed in December 2019 following the acquisition of Essar Steel India through the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code process. Headquartered in Mumbai with its primary integrated steel plant at Hazira, Surat, Gujarat, AM/NS India operates a 9 MTPA steel complex that includes blast furnace, ironmaking, basic oxygen furnace, electric arc furnace, direct reduced iron (DRI) technology, and a 0.6 MTPA pipe mill with internal and external coating facilities. The Hazira plant holds API certifications including API 5L (certificate 5L-1208) for line pipe, API 2B (certificate 2B-0208) for structural steel, API 2H, API 2W, and API 2Y for structural steel applications. The company produces hot rolled steel, cold rolled steel, galvanized steel, color-coated steel, HRPO, chequered steel, steel plates, and welded pipes. AM/NS India is expanding its Hazira facility to 15 MTPA and has laid the foundation for a new greenfield 8.2 MTPA integrated steel plant in Rajayyapeta, Anakapalli, Andhra Pradesh (announced March 2026). The company supplies to automotive, construction, oil and gas, energy, and industrial sectors globally.
