Luoyang Ship Material Research Institute (LSMRI), also known as SUNRUI Group, is a state-owned comprehensive research institute founded in 1961 in Beijing and relocated to Luoyang, Henan Province in 1971. Originally focused on shipbuilding materials R&D, LSMRI has grown into a diversified high-tech industrial group with revenue reaching $1.5 billion in 2022. The institute operates through an innovative 'One Institute - Two Managing Systems' model, with LSMRI handling R&D and SUNRUI Group managing industrial production. LSMRI has 9 research departments, 9 holding companies, 4 national testing centers, and 4 sea environment testing centers. Products span five industrial sectors including special equipment, titanium alloy materials, rubber and plastic composites, anti-corrosion and water treatment, and strategic new materials. Their valve offerings include cryogenic valves, titanium valves, and butterfly valves with API 609 and API 6D certifications. Products are exported to over 20 countries including the USA, Canada, Germany, and Japan, with exports covering 30% of total revenue.
