Founded circa 1967, the company operated for over 50 years as a provider of lifting solutions for crane, rigging, and oilfield applications. Matex fabricates wire rope slings, alloy chain slings, web slings, round slings, bridle lines, mast raising lines, pump jack bridles, and synthetic rope assemblies. The company also provides oilfield wireline spooling services, electromechanical cable splicing, and wireline sheave repair, inspection, and recertification. Matex distributes products from brands including WireCo, Crosby, WTI, Geolog, and Gunnebo. In August 2017, Bishop Lifting Products (a subsidiary of SBP Holdings) acquired Matex Wire Rope. The original matex.us domain now redirects to Bishop Lifting Products. Matex operated branches in Kilgore, Shreveport (LA), Pleasanton, Alice, and Midland (TX).
