The Mud Service Company is the drilling fluids and completion fluids technical service division of CNPC Bohai Drilling Engineering Company Limited (BHDC), a subsidiary of China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC). Registered in the Tianjin Economic-Technological Development Area, the company was originally established in 1966 as the Dagang Oilfield Group Mud Technology Service Company. It was the first CNPC-certified specialized drilling fluid service company in China. The company employs 658 personnel including 230 technical professionals (11 technical experts, 23 senior engineers, 118 engineers) and can simultaneously support over 150 drilling and workover teams. Core services include drilling fluid and completion fluid system design and technical services, product R&D and testing, technical consulting and supervision, and drilling fluid environmental engineering. The company has capability for ultra-deep wells, horizontal wells, extended-reach wells, and complex geological formations for both onshore and offshore operations. Since the Eighth Five-Year Plan period, the company has received 36 scientific research awards including 3 national-level and 9 provincial/ministerial-level science and technology progress awards.
