Oliveira Sa S.A. (formally Manuel Rodrigues de Oliveira Sá & Filhos, S.A.) is a Portuguese wire rope and steel cable manufacturer founded in 1825, making it one of the oldest continuously operating rope makers in the world. Headquartered at Rua do Outeiro, 906, Gemunde, Maia (near Porto), the company produces industrial steel wire ropes, synthetic ropes, fiber ropes, and slings for oil and gas, marine, fishing, mining, construction, and crane applications. Oliveira holds API Spec 9A certification (license 9A-0090, valid through November 2027), ISO 9001:2015 certification, Lloyd's Register approval, and DNV-GL certification. The facility in Maia employs approximately 250 people and operates a state-of-the-art laboratory for wire rope testing and quality control. Oliveira became part of WireCo WorldGroup in 2010, expanding its global manufacturing and distribution reach. Product lines include rotation-resistant ropes, non-rotation-resistant ropes, fishing wire ropes, synthetic ropes, and specialty oilfield wire rope. Oliveira is a member of AICR (Portugal), EUROCORD, and EWIRS (European Federation of Wire Rope Industries).
