Petro-Hunt, L.L.C. is a privately held independent oil and gas company owned by the William Herbert Hunt family, with over 100 years of history in the energy industry dating back to H.L. Hunt's pioneering work in Arkansas and East Texas in the 1920s. While primarily an exploration and production operator ranking as a Top 10 Private Liquids Producer in the U.S., the company operates the Little Knife Gas Processing Plant in North Dakota, providing third-party natural gas processing services to operators in the Williston Basin. The Little Knife facility processes approximately 18 MMCFD with capacity to handle 27-32 MMCFD of both sweet and sour gas, offering gas sweetening, liquid extraction, sulfur recovery, and tail gas incineration. Products include natural gas (methane and ethane), propane, butane, natural gasoline liquids, and elemental sulfur. Petro-Hunt operates 775 wells across 387,000 net acres in the Williston, Permian, and Gulf Coast basins, with partnerships in 8,100 non-operated wells. The company employs over 250 people across 13 offices in four states and maintains diversified operations including mineral purchasing, real estate development, partial refinery ownership, and ranching.
