Prysmian S.p.A. is the world's largest cable manufacturer, headquartered in Milan, Italy. Founded in 1879 as part of Pirelli's cable operations, the company was spun off in 2005 and listed on the Milan Stock Exchange (BIT: PRY). Prysmian operates over 108 manufacturing plants across 50+ countries with approximately 34,000 employees and annual revenues of approximately EUR 20 billion. In the oil and gas sector, Prysmian manufactures ESP cables, downhole technology (including tubing encapsulated cables it pioneered in 1987), offshore and onshore power/control/instrumentation cables to IEEE 1580 and NEK 606 standards, subsea umbilicals (SURF), and fiber optic sensing systems for pipeline monitoring. Key acquisitions include Draka (2011, EUR 840M) and General Cable (2018, USD 3B). The company operates under three brands: Prysmian, Draka, and General Cable.
