Pumping Tees
T-shaped wellhead bodies that mount above the tubing hanger and divert produced fluid laterally into the flowline while the rod string passes vertically through the top, where the stuffing box is mounted. They form the main production flow path and pressure-containing junction of a rod lift wellhead.
Stuffing Boxes
Sealing devices threaded or flanged onto the top of the pumping tee that contain replaceable packing rings compressed around the reciprocating polished rod to hold back wellbore pressure and prevent fluid leakage. They are available in conventional packing-gland and self-aligning designs to accommodate rod misalignment.
Polished Rod Clamps
Friction or bolted clamps that grip the polished rod and transfer the weight of the rod string to the carrier bar on the pumping unit's bridle. They set rod spacing and pump position and are sized to the polished rod outside diameter and load rating.
Rod Rotators
Ratchet-type mechanical devices mounted on the carrier bar that rotate the polished rod and entire rod string a small increment on each pumping stroke. The slow rotation evens out wear around the full circumference of rods, couplings, and the downhole pump to extend run life.
Polished Rods and Liners
Smooth, hardened upper rod sections that reciprocate through the stuffing box packing, providing a finished sealing surface at the wellhead. Polished rod liners are replaceable sleeves that protect a worn polished rod surface and restore an effective seal without replacing the full rod.
Polished Rod Lubricators and Pollution Catchers
Accessory units installed above the stuffing box that lubricate the polished rod to reduce packing wear and capture leaking fluid for environmental containment. Pollution catchers route any seepage back into the flow stream rather than allowing surface spillage.
Tubing Heads and Hangers
The lower wellhead spool and hanger that suspend and seal the production tubing string and provide the base on which the pumping tee is mounted. They isolate the tubing-casing annulus and carry the tubing weight.
Wellhead Valves and Flanges
Production wing valves, master valves, and flanged or threaded connections that control and isolate flow from the pumping tee into the flowline and provide annulus access. Valve and flange ratings establish the working pressure class of the wellhead assembly.
