Cranes built on a fixed cylindrical pedestal welded to the deck, with the slew bearing and machinery mounted at the top. The most common offshore configuration for platform deck handling and vessel cargo transfer.

Cranes whose superstructure slews around a stationary central kingpost rather than on a slew bearing. The kingpost carries the overturning moment directly into the foundation, favored for very high lift capacities and harsh-environment service.

High-capacity units, typically several hundred to over a thousand metric tons safe working load, used for module installation, platform construction, and decommissioning rather than routine cargo handling.
