ASME Code Vessels

Pressure vessels designed by rule under ASME Section VIII, Division 1, the most common code path for conventional onshore production vessels rated above 15 psig. Wall thickness is set by formula from design pressure, allowable stress, and joint efficiency.

Vessels built to Division 2 design-by-analysis rules, which permit higher allowable stresses through more rigorous stress and fatigue evaluation. Used for higher-pressure, cyclic, or thick-wall production and processing service.

Two- and three-phase separators, gas scrubbers, and knockout vessels stamped to Section VIII that partition produced fluids into oil, gas, and water streams. They are the most common code vessel at well sites and tank batteries.

Fired or indirect-heated code vessels that warm the production stream to break emulsions and separate oil from water. Built to Section VIII with firetube and bath sections under pressure.

Code-stamped vessels that store pressurized gas, hydraulic fluid, or liquid to dampen flow surges and provide stored energy. Common in pumping, control, and flowline applications.

Pressure vessels conforming to the European Pressure Equipment Directive (PED 2014/68/EU) and CE marked, often dual-certified with ASME for export installations. Conformity is assessed by a Notified Body based on pressure-volume category.

Code vessels fabricated with corrosion-resistant alloy cladding, weld overlay, or solid CRA construction for sour (H2S) or high-chloride service. Material selection follows code allowable stresses and applicable sour-service guidance.

Code-stamped vessels integrated onto a structural skid with piping, valves, and instrumentation as a transportable production package. The vessel retains its individual ASME stamp and data report within the assembled unit.
