Gas Metering Skid

High-accuracy skids installed at points where gas ownership changes, providing legally defensible volume measurement that determines payment between buyer and seller. They use precision primary elements and flow computers calibrated to recognized measurement standards to minimize uncertainty.

Skids built around an orifice plate and differential-pressure transmitters that infer flow from the pressure drop across the plate. They follow AGA Report No. 3 / API MPMS Chapter 14.3 and remain a common, well-proven approach for natural gas measurement.

Skids using transit-time ultrasonic flow meters that measure gas velocity across the pipe bore with no moving parts and minimal pressure loss. They are applied per AGA Report No. 9 and are favored for large-diameter, high-flow custody transfer.

Skids employing turbine meters (per AGA Report No. 7), which infer flow from rotor speed, or Coriolis meters, which measure mass flow directly. They suit applications requiring compact installation or direct mass measurement of gas and NGL streams.

Combined skids that step gas pressure down through regulators while metering the flow, serving as delivery points between transmission and distribution or into a facility. They integrate over-pressure protection with measurement in one package.

Multi-function stations that regulate pressure, meter flow, and inject odorant in a single skid, typically at the interface feeding a distribution system. Also called RMS or PRMS stations depending on the functions included.

Packages that inject a sulfur-based odorant such as mercaptan into otherwise odorless natural gas so leaks can be detected by smell. Injection is proportioned to flow rate to maintain a consistent odorant concentration in the delivered gas.

Skids designed to measure natural gas liquids and other liquid hydrocarbon streams, typically using turbine, Coriolis, or positive-displacement meters with proving capability. They apply to NGL custody transfer and allocation in gathering and fractionation service.
