Glutaraldehyde Biocides
Aldehyde-based non-oxidizing biocides that crosslink proteins to kill a broad spectrum of bacteria; a common workhorse in frac and produced-water treatment with good cost-performance and tolerance to a wide pH range.
THPS Biocides
Tetrakis(hydroxymethyl)phosphonium sulfate products valued for fast kill of sulfate-reducing bacteria, low toxicity profile, and rapid biodegradation; also provides some iron-sulfide dissolution and scale-control benefit.
Quaternary Ammonium and Amine Biocides
Cationic surfactant-type biocides, including quats such as DDAC (didecyldimethylammonium chloride), that disrupt cell membranes; effective against bacteria and algae and often used in dual-function biocide/corrosion programs.
Oxidizing Biocides
Strong oxidizers such as chlorine dioxide, sodium hypochlorite, and performic acid that destroy microbial cells through oxidation; used for fast-acting disinfection of source and frac water where contact time is short.
Bronopol and Isothiazolinone Biocides
Non-oxidizing organic biocides (e.g., bronopol, CMIT/MIT isothiazolinones) used for residual microbial control in water systems and storage, often complementing fast-acting biocides for longer-term preservation.
Dibromonitrilopropionamide (DBNPA) Biocides
Fast-acting, quick-quenching non-oxidizing biocides that provide rapid bacterial knockdown and then degrade, making them suited to short-residence water treatment and slug dosing.
Blended and Dual-Function Biocides
Formulated products combining two or more actives (for example glutaraldehyde with a quat) to broaden the kill spectrum, manage resistant populations, and provide both immediate and residual control.
