Sand Traps

Vessels that impart a swirling flow so centrifugal force throws proppant and solids to the wall and down into a collection pot, separating fine solids efficiently at high flow rates. Common in high-rate flowback where compact, continuous solids removal is required.

Gravity-settling vessels that abruptly reduce fluid velocity, often using internal baffles or a turn in flow, so heavier sand drops out into a barrel below. Simple and robust for general flowback solids capture.

Ball-shaped pressure vessels whose geometry creates an expansion chamber that slows the stream and drops solids while resisting internal pressure and erosion at the inlet. Used where high pressure rating and compact footprint are priorities.

Two vessels piped in series or parallel so one can be isolated and dumped while the other continues capturing solids, enabling uninterrupted flowback. Selected for long-duration or high-solids-volume flowback operations.

Compact in-line solids catchers fitted into the flowback line to intercept coarse proppant before it reaches the choke manifold. Used as a first-stage or supplemental catch ahead of a primary sand trap.

The replaceable lower chambers and dump assemblies where separated sand collects between dump cycles, including manual and automated dump valve arrangements. Sized to balance solids volume against required dump frequency.

The high-pressure flow connections, unions, and isolation valves that tie the sand trap into the flowback choke manifold and downstream equipment. Rated for flowback pressures and selected to match the vessel's working pressure.
