Wet Sand Handling

Silos, vertical storage units, and field bins engineered to hold moist sand without bridging or rat-holing. They use steeper hopper angles, vibration or air assistance, and liners to keep cohesive wet material flowing toward the discharge.

Mass-based feeders and gravimetric metering gates that deliver wet sand to the blender at a controlled rate. Because moisture makes volumetric measurement unreliable, these units rely on weigh belts or load cells to dose by weight.

Belt conveyors, drag conveyors, and screw systems sized for the higher cohesion and abrasion of damp sand. Conveyor surfaces, cleaners, and transfer points are designed to limit carryback and buildup of sticky material.

Microwave, capacitance, or near-infrared moisture sensors integrated with the metering control loop. Continuous moisture readings let the system correct dry-mass proppant concentration in real time as delivered moisture varies.

Heated hoppers, insulated chutes, and agitation systems that keep wet sand from freezing into solid masses in low-temperature operations. They maintain flowability so dosing accuracy is preserved through winter fracturing.

Belly-dump trailers, pneumatic-free tippers, and containerized units that move undried sand from the wash plant or transload to the wellsite. The hardware is built for the load characteristics and discharge behavior of moist material.

Because surface moisture suppresses airborne silica, wet sand handling integrates enclosed transfer points and residual dust capture to meet respirable crystalline silica exposure limits at the blender and transfer zones.
