Southeast Texas Industries, Inc., operating as The STI Group, is a full-service industrial construction and fabrication contractor founded in 1978 in Buna, Texas. Originally established as Southeast Texas Metal Works by Richard Purkey in an 8,000 sq ft sheet metal shop, the company has grown to over 2,000 employees with more than 450,000 sq ft of fabrication capacity across multiple facilities. STI Group serves upstream, midstream, and downstream energy markets including petrochemical, chemical, refining, oil and gas production, drilling, power generation, and pulp and paper industries. Core capabilities include pipe fabrication, complex steel fabrication, module fabrication, mechanical and civil construction, boiler services, exchanger services, and drilling rig manufacturing. STI Group holds ASME code stamp certification and has fabricated over 300 complete land-based drilling rigs. The company introduced robotic welding at its Buna facility in 2024.
