Larsen & Toubro Limited (L&T) is one of India's largest engineering and construction conglomerates, headquartered in Mumbai, with a global presence across technology, heavy industry, engineering, construction, manufacturing, power, information technology, defense, and financial services. Founded in 1938 by Danish engineers Henning Holck-Larsen and Søren Kristian Toubro, L&T is publicly listed and employs over 50,000 people directly. The Heavy Engineering division, operating from L&T's A.M. Naik Heavy Engineering Complex — a 763-acre manufacturing campus on the banks of the Tapi River in Hazira, near Surat, Gujarat — is a global leader in engineered-to-order equipment for oil and gas, LNG, refining, petrochemicals, fertilizers, and nuclear power. L&T holds API 2B certification for structural steel fabrication and is qualified for manufacturing large tubular reactors (up to 1,500 MT), LNG pressure vessels (up to 1,200 MT unit weight, up to 150 mm CS wall thickness), production separators, slug catchers, waste heat recovery boilers, heat exchangers, and stainless steel/clad columns. The Special Fabrication Unit (SFU) within the Heavy Engineering Complex, also known as L&T Piping Centre, is certified to API Spec Q1 and fabricates complex piping systems for oil and gas, thermal and nuclear power, and fertilizer plants. The SFU has an annual pipe fabrication capacity of approximately 18,000 MT and covers weld overlay piping with API requirements for onshore and offshore O&G operations, hot induction bends, jacketed piping, and manifolds in alloy steels, stainless steels, duplex SS, and exotic non-ferrous materials. Reference projects include LNG vessels for Petronas Malaysia, slug catchers for Saudi Aramco, and waste heat boilers for JGC. L&T markets high-pressure reciprocating pumps, skid-mounted pumping systems, wire line winches, and well-servicing equipment for oilfield duties.
