Nucor Steel - Hertford County is a plate steel manufacturing facility located in Hertford County, North Carolina, operating as part of Nucor Corporation's Plate Mill Group. Nucor Corporation (NYSE: NUE) is North America's largest steel manufacturer and recycler, founded in 1966 and headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Hertford County plate mill is one of three Nucor plate production facilities (alongside Brandenburg, Kentucky and Tuscaloosa, Alabama) with a combined annual capacity of approximately 3.5 million tons of cut-to-length and discrete plate. The facility produces a wide range of carbon, HSLA, alloy, and pressure vessel-quality steel plate used in energy, oil & gas, construction, shipbuilding, military & defense, heavy equipment, mining, infrastructure, and renewable energy applications. Plate sizes range from 3/16 inch to 18 inches in thickness, 48 to 170 inches in width, and 120 to 1,550 inches in length with a maximum piece weight of 50 tons. Nucor holds API Q1 and ISO 9001 certifications for quality management, supporting its role as a supplier of steel plate and tubular products to the oilfield and energy sectors.
