Drilling Rigs

Self-contained surface rigs that drill onshore wells, typically mobilized as truck-mounted, trailer-mounted, or modular skid/box-on-box packages. Sized by depth rating and drilling-line/hookload capacity for exploration and development work.

Rigs driven by AC variable-frequency-drive motors that provide precise, energy-efficient control of drawworks, top drive, and mud pumps. They replace older mechanical and SCR/DC drives and support automated drilling control.

Conventional rigs in which diesel engines drive equipment through mechanical compound transmissions or through silicon-controlled-rectifier (SCR) DC electrical systems. Still common for mid-depth land drilling and refurbishment programs.

The vertical load-bearing structures that support the traveling block and drill string during hoisting. Masts are hinged for transport on mobile rigs while derricks are static lattice towers, both rated under API 4F for hookload and wind capacity.

The elevated steel framework that supports the mast, rotary table, drawworks, and drill floor while providing space for the blowout preventer stack underneath. Substructure setback and rotary-table load capacities are rated together with the mast under API 4F.

Compact rigs that use hydraulic top-head drive and feed cylinders rather than a rotary table and kelly, allowing fast rig-up for shallow, slimhole, and workover applications. Common in mobile and trailer-mounted configurations.

Lighter rigs designed to recover continuous rock core for exploration and geotechnical evaluation rather than to produce hydrocarbons. Often diamond-bit, wireline-core systems used in mineral and stratigraphic test holes.

Engineering and fabrication services that recertify, modernize, or upgrade existing rigs—such as converting SCR/DC packages to AC drive, replacing masts and substructures, and restoring API 4F load ratings.
